Southfields Charity Support
Please enter an introduction for your news story here.
At Southfields we believe in doing what we can to support others. A part of that involves the work that we do in supporting a range of charities. We have many requests from children, parents and governors and as a school do our best to limit what we ask for from our community.
All charities that we support or hold events for are completely optional for parents and children to be a part of and we understand that not everybody will want or be able to take part but we would like to give you the option.
Over this term we have selected a few different charities who we are going to support:
September - PTA running the Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee 'Morning' taking place tomorrow afternoon
October - Love in a Box, requested and purchased for us by our school governor Mr Rush
November - Harvest and Children in Need PJ Day
December - none due to two events in November
We have already got a few charity events in the diary for the remainder of the year and our Charity Leaders will be working together to decide on what we would like to focus on for the remainder of the school year. If you have any suggestions or would like to put an idea forward please note it down and pop it in the Suggestions Box in the main school office.
At the end of last year we held a sponsored fun run with a proportion of the funds raised going to Cancer Research. We were overwhelmed with the response and are so happy to announce that the final total raised for this charity was £1310. Thank you to all that took part and who sponsored or ran in the event for this worthwhile cause. The other proportion of money will be spent on much needed play equipment and resources for our playgrounds. Once again we thank you for your kind offerings.
